Core Beliefs

We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is without error as originally transcribed by people who were moved by the Holy Spirit to record it. It contains His truth for His people of the past and for our lives today and every day. (John 1:1-5: 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23-25).

We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit). God, the author of all things, created mankind to have fellowship with Him.

Man, by voluntary decision, sinned against God and became separated from Him. Jesus Christ gave up His position next to God to come to earth where He lived a sinless life. He voluntarily died on a cross to pay the price for our sins and then rose again thereby allowing us the possibility of a relationship with God. (Matthew 28:19; John 5:17; John 16:7-15; 1 Corinthians 15:22; Titus 3:4-6).

We believe that Jesus Christ is now in heaven serving as the only mediator between God and mankind. For all those who accept His sacrifice He gives the Holy Spirit as a guide on the journey of our lives. (John 16:7-15; 1Timothy 2:5).

We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and others and not for himself or herself. By obedience to God’s Word, by following the leading of the Holy Spirit, and through open and honest relationships with each other every follower of Christ will mature spiritually and continually be transformed into the image of Christ. (Matthew 28:20; Luke 10:27; Acts 2:42-47; Romans 12:2; Colossians 3:10; James 5:16).

We believe that the church is the figurative body of Christ, of which Christ is the Head. We believe the church is the representation of Christ to the world. The members are those who have committed their lives to be followers of Christ. The purpose of the community of followers of Christ is to glorify God by loving Him and others, by making Him known to those who don’t know Him and developing others into mature followers of Christ. (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; Ephesians 5:21).

We believe that followers of Christ are called to share their lives together in community by devoting themselves to living according to the Scriptures, by connecting with each other in authentic and meaningful relationships, by sharing meals together and by sharing resources. (Acts 2:42-47; Acts 4:32-35).

We believe every person who makes a commitment to be a follower of Christ should obey his command to be baptized in water and should regularly receive communion as a continual reminder of the broken body and shed blood of Christ. (Matthew 3:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 8:36-38; Acts 22:16; Galatians 3:27).

We believe there will be an end to this present age on the earth when Jesus Christ will return to earth and all who follow him will experience eternal life in the Presence of God. (Isaiah 65:17, 66:22; Matthew 24:30; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:50-54; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Philippians 3:20; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17).
